New shop designs cater to evolving tastes, demographics, and shopping habits and feature rotating gelato cases, chocolate tasting bars, state-of-the-art kitchens, build-your-own bark stations, and interactive prep areas, which bring customers back again and again while putting them inside the chocolate making experience.

All Peterbrooke shops feature traditional favorites such as decadent truffles, hand-made caramels, gelato and cherry cordials and specialties such as chocolate covered cookies, pretzels, scratch-made marshmallows, potato chips and strawberries that are hand-dipped daily with Peterbrooke’s own proprietary blend of milk, dark and white chocolate.

Typically held once a month on a Friday, franchise candidates are invited to Peterbrooke headquarters in Jacksonville, Fla. to meet department heads and our executive team. You’ll learn our history, receive further insight about our brand and infrastructure, learn each department’s role in helping you build your business and much more. It’s a full day of getting to know your future partners.

After we complete a credit and background check, we will issue you a “Franchise Agreement.” Review and sign the agreement and you are officially a Peterbrooke Chocolatier franchisee!

Our network of real estate brokers will help you find the right store site. Once found, we’ll work with you to negotiate lease terms and work towards the execution of your lease. Once, executed, you’ll begin working with your selected contractors to build out your Peterbrooke shop.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How much does it cost to open a Peterbrooke?

The purchase price will vary depending on the size and the location of your Peterbrooke shop. The price range is outlined in our FDD. Typically, the costs range from $288,200 to $414,350.

The current initial Franchise Fee for a Peterbrooke shop is $25,000. We offer a discounted Franchise Fee for additional locations after your first location or for those who initially enter in a multi-unit development or area developer agreement. Also, we are a member of VetFran, which offers current and former members of the military a 20% discount on the initial Franchise Fee.

Our Franchise Terms are 10 years, which typically coincide with your lease and with two renewal option periods of 5 years each.

We have targeted specific demographic areas we would like to grow in across Florida and the Southeastern U.S. However, we are always excited to talk about development in your community and explore any new opportunities that might come our way.

Protected territories vary in size based on a combination of geography and population density. Your protected territory will be exclusive to your shop and it will be mapped out and agreed to prior to the execution of your Franchise Agreement.

Together, we work with a team of real estate brokers throughout the country that are specialists with the Peterbrooke Chocolatier brand. Furthermore, our Development Team will walk the streets day and night using key demographics and mapping software to help you determine where exactly would be the best fit. Finally, we listen to you because you know your market and market conditions probably better than anyone.

Our current Royalty Fees are 6% of monthly gross revenue and the fee is paid on the 15th of the following month via ACH draft.

Our current Ad Fund rate is 3% of monthly gross revenue and the fee is paid on the 15th of the following month. Each shop contributes to this fund, which is managed by Peterbrooke Franchising USA, but the funds are only used to market the shops. The funds are used to help promote and market the brand and shops in all markets. Each shop is required to spend an additional 2% on local store marketing related events. This amount is not collected (except in markets that have marketing Co-Ops), but should be used locally for digital marketing, sponsorships, promotions, tastings, events, flyers, and other local initiatives.

Our Peterbrooke franchise opportunity is open to everyone regardless of previous experience or background. Our comprehensive training program and ongoing support will provide the foundation for you to be successful as a Peterbrooke franchisee, not your resume or work history. However, we do put a lot of effort into finding the right franchisees that are a fit culturally for our brand and that have the drive, ambition, business acumen and entrepreneurial spirit to thrive in the chocolate retail world. Furthermore, you must meet certain financial requirements and background checks.

Our current Training Program consists of three weeks in a corporate shop in Jacksonville, Florida. Everything is covered from how to produce all the chocolate items, inventory, menu, marketing, and operations. Once you’re ready to open, we’ll spend at least one week with you in your shop helping you ramp up and at least one week after you open providing operations support. After your opening, we will be there every step of the way with ongoing support.

We have partnerships with national lenders and the Small Business Administration that are always interested in doing business with our potential franchisees, but we do not currently offer financing services ourselves.

The ideal footprint for a Peterbrooke store is approximately 1,200 – 2,000 square feet although we may examine smaller and larger opportunities on a case-by-case basis.

We believe that all franchisees need to be involved in the day-to-day operations of the business. However, we do not require that owners are hands-on operators. It is important for franchise owners to understand the business and continually improve operations. Multi-unit operations and partnerships are reviewed on a case-by-case basis, and so long as there is a manager/head chocolatier onsite and we are comfortable with the business model.
